What We Do

Three standard systems we install, each engineered for the Southern Cape coast’s wind, salt and UV.

Concrete & Clay Tile Roofs

Traditional tile roofs with engineered trusses, underfelt, battens, and mechanical fixing on windward slopes. 30–50 year lifespan when installed to SANS 10400. Ideal for residential homes with design-appropriate truss loading.

IBR & Kliplok Steel Roofs

Lightweight sheet systems — Chromadek IBR, Kliplok 406/700, AZ150 galvanised. Fast to install, superior salt resistance on the coast, lower dead load on the structure. Ideal for commercial and contemporary residential.

Slate & Specialist Roofs

Natural and fibre-cement slate for heritage and high-end residential, installed with correct fixing, underlay and flashings. Heavier load — truss design confirmed with the engineer before we order.

How It Works

  1. Site visit and measurement. We visit your site in George, measure the existing roof or new-build trusses, confirm the structural loading, and photograph the site for our quote.
  2. Written line-item quote. You get a fully itemised quote — trusses, underlay, battens, roof covering, flashings, scaffolding, waste removal, labour, VAT. No lump sums, no surprises.
  3. Materials ordered and delivered. Once the quote is accepted, we lock pricing with suppliers, schedule delivery, and confirm the build start date in writing.
  4. Install with daily site management. Our crew works to the schedule, covers exposed structure overnight, and keeps the site clean. Site supervisor on-call throughout.
  5. Handover and guarantee documents. Final walkthrough with you, sign-off, and handover of the written workmanship guarantee plus the manufacturer warranty paperwork.

Common Questions

How much does a new roof cost in George?

It depends on roof size, pitch, material (tile, IBR or slate) and the structural design. Concrete tile is typically mid-range, IBR the most cost-effective for most sizes, slate the most expensive. You get a free written line-item quote after a site visit — no obligation.

Do I need NHBRC enrolment for a new roof?

For a new home build, yes — NHBRC enrolment is a legal requirement and protects you with a 5-year structural warranty. For replacing a roof on an existing home, NHBRC isn’t legally required, but you should still only use an enrolled builder. TreadstoneCPM is enrolled.

Which is better — tile or IBR — for the Southern Cape climate?

Both work well when installed correctly. Tile handles wind and looks traditional but needs engineered trusses for the weight. IBR is lighter, cheaper, faster to install, and Chromadek IBR resists salt better than untreated steel. We recommend the right system after a site visit based on your specific home.

How long does a new roof take to install?

A standard 200 m² residential roof runs 7–14 working days from truss delivery to final sign-off, weather permitting. Commercial and complex multi-pitch roofs run longer. Your written quote includes a firm program.
