What We Do After a Storm
Emergency Make-Safe
The first priority is stopping further water ingress. We tarp exposed areas, remove loose sheeting or tiles that could become projectiles, clear debris from gutters and valleys, and make the roof safe before the next front arrives. Written Damage Assessment
Once the roof is secure, we carry out a full inspection: extent of covering damage, condition of the structure (trusses, battens, brandering), state of flashings and waterproofing, and ceiling damage below. Types of Storm Damage We Repair
Wind-lifted sheeting and tiles — IBR, corrugated, Chromadek and concrete or clay tiles blown off or lifted by wind uplift. We replace and re-fix to the correct pattern for the wind zone.

How quickly can you respond after a storm?

Will my insurance cover storm damage repairs?

What is the difference between a make-safe and a permanent repair?
A make-safe stops further water ingress and removes immediate hazards — tarping, securing loose material, clearing blocked gutters. It is temporary. The permanent repair replaces damaged materials to the correct specification, with new fixings, matched coverings and a written workmanship guarantee. We always recommend completing the permanent repair as soon as the claim is approved.
Can you repair just the damaged section, or does the whole roof need replacing?
If the damage is localised and the rest of the roof is in good condition, a section repair is the right approach. If the storm exposed widespread underlying problems — corroded fixings, failed underlay, deteriorated battens — it may be more cost-effective to re-roof the affected slope or the whole roof. We will advise honestly based on the inspection findings.
