What We Do

Broomed & Brushed Finish
The practical, non-slip standard for residential driveways — smooth concrete with a lightly broomed surface for grip in the rain. Affordable, durable, and easy to maintain. Can be coloured integrally or acid-stained.
Exposed Aggregate
Top layer of cement paste washed off to reveal the stone underneath — textured, attractive, and extremely hard-wearing. Different stone selections give different looks. More expensive than broomed, longer lasting.
Stamped & Decorative
Patterned concrete stamped while wet to mimic pavers, stone, cobbles or timber. Looks expensive, costs less than pavers, no joints for weeds. Also see our decorative concrete page for patios and entertainment areas.
How It Works
- Site assessment. We check the sub-base, existing levels, drainage, access for the ready-mix truck, and the transition to the road, garage and any other hard surfaces. Driveways are as much about water as they are about concrete.
- Design, spec and quote. Driveway layout, thickness (usually 100–150mm for cars, 150mm+ for heavy vehicles), reinforcement mesh, joint layout, and the finish you want. Written line-item quote.
- Excavation and sub-base. Existing surface removed, sub-grade compacted, hard-core base laid and compacted, reinforcement mesh placed on chairs at the correct cover.
- Pour and finish. Ready-mix concrete placed, screeded to the falls, floated, and finished per your spec — broomed, exposed, or stamped. Control joints cut or tooled at correct spacing.
- Curing and handover. Curing compound or cover applied, traffic kept off for the curing period, and handover with the written workmanship guarantee.
Common Questions
How long does a concrete driveway last?
When engineered and installed correctly, a residential concrete driveway lasts 30+ years with minimal maintenance. Failure usually comes from poor sub-base or inadequate reinforcement — both avoidable.
Is concrete or paving better?
Both work. Concrete is lower maintenance (no weeds, no sand top-ups, no settlement around edges) and lasts longer. Pavers offer easier repair of localised damage and different aesthetic options. Cost is usually similar. We’ll discuss both and recommend based on your priorities.
When can I drive on a new concrete driveway?
Foot traffic after 24–48 hours. Light vehicles after 7 days. Heavy vehicles (trucks, trailers, loaded bakkies) after 28 days when the concrete reaches full design strength.
Will the driveway crack?
Concrete always gets micro-cracks — that’s why we install control joints at the correct spacing so any cracking happens there, invisibly, not across the visible surface. Properly engineered and jointed driveways don’t get random surface cracks.
