Drainage That Solves the Problem

Most Garden Route drainage problems come from one of two things: surface water that isn’t being captured and routed away, or sub-soil water that’s sitting in the wrong place. We handle both. Stormwater pipes, channels, inlets and outlets for surface water. French drains, sub-soil drainage and herringbone systems for ground water.

Every drainage install is designed to engineer’s specification, built to SANS 1200 L (civil pipework), and handed over with as-built drawings so you know exactly where everything runs.

What Drainage Systems Cover

How a Drainage Install Runs

1. Site visit & survey

We look at the problem, check existing levels, and talk through what’s actually going wrong — often the fix is simpler than the client expects.

2. Engineered design & quote

Engineer’s design for larger scopes, line-item quote, and a written programme. Council-approved designs where the work needs council sign-off.

3. Install & as-built

Excavation, bedding, pipe-laying, backfill and compaction. As-built drawings and handover on completion.

Common Questions

My property is holding water — is it stormwater or sub-soil?

Depends on when it shows up. If water pools after rain and disappears in days, it’s usually surface water — needs stormwater catchment and routing. If it’s damp all the time or slab edges are weeping, it’s usually sub-soil water — needs a French drain or sub-soil drainage. We diagnose it on site before quoting the fix.

Do you need council approval for drainage work?

For small residential drainage, usually not. For anything discharging to a public stormwater system, crossing a road reserve, or involving attenuation on estate developments, yes — we handle the council liaison and approvals.

What SANS standard applies?

SANS 1200 L covers civil pipework including stormwater. SANS 1200 D covers earthworks. We work to both, and engineer’s sign-off is provided where the scope requires it.

Can you fix drainage problems around an existing building?

Yes. Retrofitting drainage around existing buildings is common — French drains at slab edges, perimeter sub-soil drainage, and surface water re-routing. We’ll work around the existing landscaping as much as possible.

Do you handle the full design or do I need a separate engineer?

For simple drainage we design in-house. For anything involving attenuation, large catchments or public discharge we work with a civil engineer we’ve used for years. Either way, you get one quote and one contract.
