Corrosion Control & Coating by Rope Access

Surface preparation, protective coating application, and coating repair on rope — across industrial, marine, offshore and civil structures. NACE/AMPP qualified inspectors, traceable systems.

What We Do

The three coating scopes we run most often.

Surface Preparation

Power-tool cleaning, hand tooling, spot-blasting and full abrasive blasting by rope where enclosed blasting is practical. Prep to the required standard (St2, St3, Sa2, Sa2½) per ISO 8501-1.

Paint & Coating Application

Application of protective coating systems — epoxy, zinc-rich primer, polyurethane, high-build — to the manufacturer’s spec and the client’s paint schedule. Airless spray or brush-and-roll depending on access.

Inspection & Traceability

NACE/AMPP coating inspection — DFT readings, adhesion testing, holiday detection, and traceability of batch numbers, environmental conditions, and application records. Full paint log on handover.

How It Works

  1. Coating spec review. We work from the client’s or OEM’s paint schedule. System, DFT, surface prep standard, and application conditions all checked before mobilisation.
  2. Access and containment. Rigging, containment where required (particularly for blasting and for environments where overspray is a concern), and waste collection planning. Environmental controls per local rules.
  3. Prep and inspect. Surface prepared to the specified standard, inspected visually and with comparators, and released for coating only once the prep is signed off.
  4. Apply and record. Paint applied within the environmental envelope (temperature, RH, dew point), wet and dry film thickness recorded, and each coat signed off before the next.
  5. Final inspection and paint log. Adhesion testing, holiday testing, final DFT mapping, paint log with all environmental readings and batch numbers, and warranty documentation from the paint supplier.

Common Questions

Are your coating inspectors qualified?

Yes — NACE / AMPP coating inspector qualifications at the relevant level, verified before any coating work starts. All DFT and adhesion testing done with calibrated equipment, certificates on file.

Can you do blasting on rope?

Yes — spot-blasting and localised full-blast on rope with appropriate containment and waste management. Full-structure blasting is usually more efficiently done from scaffold or hoardings, but small areas and hard-to-reach zones are well-suited to rope access.

Do you guarantee the coating?

We warrant our workmanship on preparation and application. The coating material itself is warranted by the manufacturer per their paint schedule. Both warranties are handed over on completion.

Can you repair existing coatings?

Yes — coating repairs (feathering, spot repair, localised re-coat) are one of the most common rope-access scopes on long-term asset maintenance programmes. We work to the client’s repair spec.
